The contract was supported by all seven commissioners at last night's meeting and will go to the full board of Commissioners at the end of the month.
The impounded animals are currently being held at the county animal shelter. Under the new agreement, the Humane Society will take over responsibilities for the animals.
By doing this, the county shelter will shut down for good.
If approved by the full board, it will go into effect as soon as the Health Department and the Animal Control division can work with the Humane Society to make the transition.
